Mexico, Chichen Itza at Yucatan

Chichen Itza, found in Yucatan, Mexico, is a large archaeological site that represents what remains of one of the main focal points of the Mayan civilization. The site is comprised of over 100 paved roads and dozens of stone buildings, many of which were beautifully restored. Chichen Itza is considered to be the property of the federal government but the site is run and maintained by the National Institute of Anthropology and History.

The peak season is July to August and is more expensive and very busy. Summer (May to October) is warm with rain and hail. The dry season November to February, is cooler with cold nights, and it is warmer February to April. The best time to travel is from October to April.

Tours
Mexico Puebla Oaxaca
Visit the Santa Maria Tonantzintla Temple, gorgeously decorated by indigenous hands. Upon arrival to Puebla: Rosario’s Chapel, the Main Square, lunch included.

Monte Alban Mitl -Tule
Visit Monte Alban, an important archaeological zone where important remains of the Olmeca, Zapoteca and Mixteca cultures can be found; the Main Square, the Observatory, Tomb # 7, the Stones of the Dancers. We continue to Mitla, whose buildings are decorated with symbolic mosaics. En route we will meet the Tule Tree, one of the largest living beings in the world. We return to Oaxaca and visit this city, including the Cathedral, the Santo Domingo Church and the Gold Museum.

Oaxaca-Sumidero–San Cristobal
Leave to Tuxtla Gutierrez, capital city of the State of Chiapas, enjoying the landscapes of the southern mountains. Box lunch. Boat ride alongside the Sumidero Canyon, which has its highest point situated at 1,000 meters (3,300 feet). We pass by Chiapa de Corzo, where we can admire the Mudejar style fountain.

San Cristobal De Las Casas
Visit to San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan, typical Indian towns, to view some of the archaic rites which are practised by the pagan-religious inhabitants. The afternoon can be spent at your leisure. We strongly recommend that you visit the Market in this beautiful city!

San Cristobal De Las Casas-Agua Azul-Palenque
Head to the Agua Azul Waterfalls, to admire their turquoise coloured waters. If the time permits, a short stop at Misol-ha, another beautiful waterfall and then we will continue to Palenque.

Palenque-Campeche
Visit to Palenque, one of the most important Mayan archaeological sites, both historically and aesthetically. Inside the Temple of the Inscriptions we can visit King Pakal’s Tomb and its gravestone, beautifully engraved in relief.

Campeche-Uxmal-Merida
Visit to this archaeological site and its wonders: the Guesser Pyramid, the Nun’s Square, Governor’s Palace and the Ballgame court. Lunch included and then we proceed to Merida, “The White City”, to enjoy a panoramic city tour.

Merida-Chichen Itza-Cancun
We will visit the pyramid “The Castle”, the Ballgame Ground, the Observatory, the One Thousand Columns Square, Jaguar’s Temple and the Sacred Well (cenote). Lunch is included.
